Scope

This privacy policy is published by Navatala (the developer, "we", "our", "us") and applies to the following mobile applications and services we operate:

• Talika — vessel inspection and reporting application, distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store (Android package com.navatala.talika).
• Vitec — vessel inspection application for fleet operators, distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store (Android package com.navatala.vitec).
• The Navatala website at www.navatala.com and related back-end services that the Talika and Vitec apps connect to.

This policy describes what data the Talika and Vitec apps collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It also satisfies the Google Play Data Safety disclosure for both apps.

Data We Collect

The Talika and Vitec apps collect the following categories of data, only as needed to provide the inspection and fleet management features users sign up for:

• Account information: name, email address, organization/company name, role, and login credentials. Provided when an account is created or updated.
• Inspection and operational content: vessel records, inspection templates, deficiencies, comments, and report metadata that users enter while using the app.
• Photos and files: images captured with the device camera or selected from device storage, and any documents attached as inspection evidence. Uploaded only when the user explicitly attaches them to an inspection record.
• App activity and diagnostics: in-app interactions, crash logs, and performance information used to diagnose problems and improve reliability.
• Device and connection identifiers: non-personal device model, OS version, app version, and a session identifier used to authenticate API requests.

The apps do not collect precise device location, contacts, SMS, call logs, calendar, microphone audio, or health/fitness data.

How We Use Data

We use the data described above only to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Talika and Vitec apps and the back-end inspection and reporting services.
• Authenticate users and protect accounts from unauthorized access.
• Respond to support requests and operational issues raised by customers.
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
• Meet legal, regulatory, audit, and contractual obligations applicable to maritime inspection records.

We do not use customer data for advertising. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

Sharing With Third Parties

We share data only with:

• Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and process data on our behalf, under written confidentiality and data protection agreements.
• The customer organization that owns the user's account, when the data is part of an inspection record belonging to that organization.
• Government authorities, classification societies, or auditors when required by applicable law or by an inspection report submission obligation.

The Talika and Vitec apps do not contain third-party advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs that personally identify users.

Data Storage, Security, and Retention

Data is transmitted over TLS (HTTPS) and stored in PostgreSQL databases protected by role-based access controls and audit logging. Authentication uses salted, iterated password hashing (SCRAM-SHA-256). Inspection photos and files are stored in encrypted storage on our infrastructure.

We retain account and inspection data while the customer account is active and for the period required to meet legal, regulatory, and audit obligations. Records that no longer have a legal or operational basis for retention are deleted or anonymized.

Your Rights and Controls

You can:

• Access or correct your account information from within the app or by contacting us.
• Request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing privacy@navatala.com. We will delete data that we are not legally required to retain.
• Withdraw permissions (camera, photos) at any time from your device's operating system settings; the app will continue to function for features that do not require those permissions.
• Export your inspection data on request, subject to verification of identity and ownership.

Children

The Talika and Vitec apps are professional tools for the maritime industry and are not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International Transfers

The apps may be used in jurisdictions different from where our servers are hosted. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for cross-border data transfer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the apps, our practices, or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated by in-app notification or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
